Staff Repoter :: The prominent Publisher of Omicon Publishing House from Bangladesh, Engr. Mehedi Hasan demands, “Bengali” to be included in Istanbul Fellowship grant program likewise other 68 different languages.

Mr. Hasan highlighted this issue during the inauguration ceremony of International Istanbul Fellowship program which was inaugurated by the Governor of Istanbul, Mr. Mr. Vasip Şahin at WOW Istanbul Hotels & Convention Center. The Governor paid attention to this request responsively and assured Engr. Mehedi Hasan that he will take immediate steps to this matter.

Mr. Hasan also enlightened the Governor the context of recognition of Bangla Language as International Mother Language Day which was first announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999 and then formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in a resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages. In light of this spirit Bengali language deserved to be among other languages which are enlisted for Istanbul translation grant-claimed Engr. Mehedi Hasan

The 3rd Istanbul Fellowship Program was inaugurated in Istanbul, Turkey on 9 March in presence of over 120 delegates from across the world. The Fellowship was initiated in 2016 by Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright & Licensing Society (TBYM), the largest Professional organization of publishers in Turkey and sponsored by The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Office of the Governor of Istanbul and Istanbul Development Agency.

Engr. Mehedi Hasan is leading a delegation team from Bangladesh to this Fellowship program. He also engaged in one to one discussion with publishers from around the world namely Korean, Japanese and Australian publishers about challenges and opportunities in the global copyright exchange market.
